Guidde vs Howpaper: a video with a voice, or a document you can hand over

Guidde records what you do and turns it into a short video with an AI voice-over (about 100,000 users of its Chrome extension, 4.6 stars). The free plan allows up to 25 videos and puts a Guidde watermark on them and on exports; Pro, at $19 a month billed yearly or $29 monthly per creator, removes the watermark and unlocks video, PowerPoint and PDF export, brand kit and blurring; Business adds desktop capture and analytics at $39–59. Guides live in Guidde’s cloud library, behind an account.

Howpaper makes a different thing from the same recording: a written guide, one numbered step per click, each with a screenshot, that you can edit and export as HTML, PDF, Markdown or Word. No video, no voice, no watermark; it stays in your browser, and the Pro features cost €24 once. Here is when each one is the right tool.

When Guidde is the better choice

If the people you are explaining things to prefer to watch, if you want a voice-over without recording your own, if you share guides as links or embed them in a help centre, Guidde does that and Howpaper doesn’t. Its reviews praise the speed from recording to finished video.

When Howpaper is the better choice

If the person on the other end needs to read and follow — a procedure for the compliance folder, an onboarding checklist, a client handover, a wiki page — a numbered document with screenshots is easier to search, print, translate and keep up to date than a video, and it needs no watermark removal fee. Nothing you record leaves your computer, and passwords are hidden before the screenshot is saved.

Trying it takes two minutes

Install Howpaper, press Record, do the task as you normally would, press Stop. The editor opens with every click as a numbered step; rename, reorder, blur, then export. You can keep Guidde installed.
