Questions
Does it sync between computers?
No, by design: nothing leaves your computer. Use Export in the manager and Import on the other machine, or turn on the weekly backup file in Settings.
What does a snapshot contain?
URLs, titles, pinned flags and tab groups of every open window, taken only when something changed. Incognito windows are never captured.
Can Chrome's own "saved tab groups" do this?
Partly: they sync groups through your Google account. Tab Shelf works without an account, keeps history and lets you restore selectively.
Which permissions does it need, and why?
tabs and tabGroups to read and restore your tabs; storage to keep them locally; alarms for snapshots. The only network call is the optional Pro licence check to clip.malvatech.app, which receives the key and nothing else. Privacy policy.
